Toho Water Authority announced that Rep. Darren Soto (D-FL) presented the Authority with federal funding to support two infrastructure projects. Its St. Cloud downtown water main replacement project will upgrade aging pipes for better water quality and reliability. The $3.7 million project received $697 thousand in federal funding. The Reaves Road force main replacement project will prevent sewer breaks and protect public health. The $1.9 million project received $960 thousand in federal funding.


“Toho remains committed to meeting the infrastructure demands of our growing region by investing in expansion and replacement of infrastructure to support future growth and provide reliable, high-quality services to our customers,” the Authority wrote on LinkedIn.

El Paso Water announced in its On the Waterfront newsletter that it received the Conservation Award from the El Paso/Trans-Pecos Audubon Society for its efforts to:

  • Conserve water: El Paso has cut its water consumption by 40%. For 34 years, the El Paso Water Conservation Ordinance has helped the community embrace conservation as a way of life.
  • Preserve open spaces: El Paso Water purchases open space properties to improve flood control and increase public safety. It has transferred 9,000 acres to Texas parks and Wildlife. It also partners with the City of El Paso and local nonprofits to grant use of its land to trailhead sites.
  • Environmental stewardship: After acquiring the Rio Bosque Wetlands Park in 2012, the park is flourishing as a result of a partnership with the University of Texas at El Paso.

The Northwestern Water & Sewer District participated in local high school career fairs this month. The District noted on LinkedIn that, “It was inspiring to share how careers in the water industry not only provide stability and growth but also play a vital role in improving the health and the environment of the communities we serve.”

“We highlighted the rewarding opportunities in the water industry, where community service, environmental responsibility, and technology come together. Excited to inspire the next generation of water professionals!”  

Central Arkansas Water celebrated Women’s History Month by recognizing women who are making a lasting impact in the water industry and beyond.

“We’re proud to have women leading the charge in driving innovation, ensuring sustainability, and enhancing water quality across our community,” the organization wrote on LinkedIn. “From developing cutting-edge water treatment technologies to advocating for conservation and improving infrastructure, women have been pivotal in advancing the water sector. Their expertise and dedication help us deliver safe, clean water to our community every day. several posts on LinkedIn, World Water Day by recognizing the critical role of glaciers in the global water cycle.”

The water organization also posted a video interview with one of the women on its staff, noting that. “As we continue to foster diversity, CAW is committed to creating opportunities for women to make meaningful contributions to our industry and community.”
