Toho Water Salutes Black Innovators for Water industry Advancements During Black History Month
Toho Water Authority celebrated Black History Month in February, beginning the month with a LinkedIn post saluting three Black inventors, Rufus Stokes, Frederick Jones, and George Washington Carver, whose innovations have had a lasting effect on the water industry. See the post.
With a 1968 patent, Stokes revolutionized air purification by cutting smokestack pollution. The innovation that helped protect water sources and paved the way for future advancements in pollution control.
Jones developed a mobile refrigeration system that reduced the need for water usage in preservation, helping to conserve water in the transportation of foods and medications.
Finally, work by Carver, who promoted sustainable farming at Tuskegee University, is credited with improving soil health and reducing water pollution. The innovations helped to conserve water resources through better agricultural practices.
