Facility Tour: Scenes From ARWO Summit 2025
In addition to two days of educational presentations, ARWO Summit 2025 participants toured the Pinellas County South Cross Bayou Facility, a 33 MGD advanced wastewater treatment plant and resource recovery facility. It is the largest wastewater treatment facility in Pinellas County, Florida.
The facility produces 4.4 billion gallons of reclaimed water for irrigation, helping to conserve potable water. In addition, it recycles nearly all of the biosolids at two county plants, producing more than 6,000 tons of fertilization.
It captures the green energy of digester biogas in the pelletizing process, ofsetting the use of natural biogas. This has produced substantial savings, nearly $140,000 in 2016 alone.
